Weekly Challenge #129

Happy Hump Day!

It’s been a busy week so far, but while waiting for an appointment this morning, I had a little time to work on this weeks challenge from i am the diva. Here is my tile using string 004 from tanglepatterns.com. Hop on over for a great resource of lots of different patterns including one that I came up with called Widgets. I also decided to practice weighting after seeing Maria's recent work on the Zentangle Blog. I think that I will have to work on that a bit more.

Again my thanks to all of you who stop on by and also leave me such lovely comments. You are the ones who keep me going on this journey! Have a great week, Kate

More of the Weekly Challenge #128

After waking up to temperatures in the 50’s, lots of wind, and off and on rain, at the lake today, I continued to play around with the i am the diva challenge.  Here are a couple of more for you to see this week. I will look forward to more summer like temperatures next week.

See everyone next week!

Weekly Challenge #128

Wow! This weeks challenge from i am the diva, was to use two pencils together to create your string. This was a blast from the past for me. Way, way, back in the day, I once took a calligraphy class. Using two pencils together was one of the ways that we started out practicing, some of the letterforms. Once again, I was behind in my calendar, so used it for the first of the strings. I do remember that it was kind of tough to keep control with both of the pencils, so I did practice a bit on an old newspaper to get the feel of the pencils together again. Here is the first attempt at this weeks challenge.

“Purple ribbon”

I am out and about this week with limited access, so as always comments are welcome, and I will try to catch up with you all later. Don’t forget to check out everyone’s solution to this challenge at i am the diva.

More of the Weekly Challenge #127

I finished my first attempt at using the toned grey paper today. Seems like I have a little bit more to work on, with the shading and highlights. I wished that I could get a bit more range with my white colored pencil, but I suppose I will have to try a few different brands out to see if I can get more of a range. I did find this paper rather slick to work with, and am going to try a few more brands of paper too. I did this one with black pen, graphite, white colored pencil and white gel pen.

I was a few days behind in my tangle a day calendar, so decided to use the, i am the diva challenge to catch up! I played off both patterns to bring them together and this is what I came up with! I also jsut got some toned paper, so I want to try this challenge using that too, so until then, have a great week.

Weekly Challenge #126

Here are my tiles for this weeks challenge from I am the diva. In this weeks challenge we were to use stencils as our strings. I only have a couple of stencils in my supplies, so used one of them to make both of these tiles, just different parts of the same stencil. I have to say that I found this challenge difficult. It seemed that I had to think too much to decide what patterns to put in the spaces, so it lost some of the “zen” for me. For what that’s worth, here are my tiles this week. Thanks to Laura for another interesting challenge.

Thanks to you all who take the time to comment! I appreciate the feedback.
Whoo Hoo! One month and counting!

More of the Weekly challenge #125

I still wanted to play around a bit more with Birdie Feet; from i am the diva
UMT challenge, by Owl Loving April.

This time I worked the feet into a grid seed and played around with that as a border. I found that you could do lots of different things with the placement of the seed, with the direction of the feet, and which parts you shaded, colored in or added tanglations to.

Here is my version of  “In the Chicken Yard”

I also have another of the Sea Series for you. Here is "Under the Sea".

I am working remotely on these last couple of challenges, and I am without a scanner, so the pictures I am using are not quite as clear. I will try and scan them for better clarity at a later time. I am also unable to respond to the lovely comments from everyone, but know I will try to catch up once I have a better connection. It’s one of those; love the technology, and hate the technology, times for me!

As always I truly appreciate you comments! Don't forget to follow me if you would like!
Have a great weekend!
