Weekly Challenge #244

Greetings everyone! The challenge over at i am the diva this week is Tripoli Triptastic. I actually like using this tangle, and don’t even mind when it sort of goes out of control on me. I try to just go with the flow. I am still going with just a little bit this week and wanted to play with some color. I think that it might end up as a thank you card. Enjoy! Have a great week, and keep the folks in Paris in your hearts.

Weekly Challenge #243

The challenge this week over at i am the diva was, just a tiny taste, to intentionally leave most of your tile blank. It’s still pretty busy here, so this is a short and sweet one. These are my tiles for the challenge.

Weekly Challenge #242

Greetings this Gourdgeous day!
Fun challenge this week from i am the diva.
At school it is the end of the quarter tomorrow, and we have no grading day after, add in that there has been a policy change in our building and we have to take any and all late work until the last day of the quarter tomorrow, and I have to get everything graded, entered and final grades done for 280 kiddos! Then on top of it all, our building is getting ready for an International Baccalaureate accreditation visit next week. Can you see why this teacher is a bit crazy and stressed!
I did manage to get one tile done for this challenge, but will play some more after all the craziness is over. Here is my tile this week trying out Gourdgeous. I worked on a black tile, added a little grey Fabrico marker for some shading. Ghosted a bit of zen stone around on the background and added in a little diva dance with a glaze pen. Enjoy!

Weekly Challenge #241

Greeting Tanglers! This week the challenge, over at i am the diva is by guest challenger, Paula Bramante using Cairns, or stones and ceremony for our tiles. I just knew that I had to do a take on Tina-Akua Hunziker’s, tangle Stonestory. You can find her step outs for this tangle here. I had some fun researching Cairns and learning about them, and this is my tile for the challenge this week.

I also have been tangling a pumpkin for Halloween, so here are also some views of that fun project. I think that I am going to hit the sales and pick up a few more, so I can continue to add them to the decorations for next year.

Happy Halloween!

Weekly challenge #240

It is Birthday Leaves for the challenge over at i am the diva this week. I had a lot of fun doing this little Zia. I first used a watercolor wash in the background, then traced the leaves, tangled and finished it up with some extra color using my prismacolor colored pencils.

Interestingly enough I had started a project with my enrichment class of 7th graders at school doing the same thing last week. They just are finishing up this week, so I thought I would share a little bit of their work with you too.

Weekly Challenge #239

Greetings Tanglers! The challenge this week over at i am the diva was to use Munchin and play. I had a good time trying out a few ways to play with this tangle. Like the diva, black tiles are not my favorite. I of course couldn’t find the bottle of black gesso that I know that I have in the house, so that will have to wait until another time for me to try the divas solution, but I did try one white on a black tile. I messed up the background on the tile, so had to find a solution for that dilemma. I just cut it out around the main tangle and glued it on to a renaissance tile and continued on.

Here are two more that I played with, on a tan tile and another on the black, but using my Irojiten pencils for some color. I do like the way those work on the black tiles with the black impressed lines.

Thanks for stopping by and for all your lovely comments. They do make my day!

Weekly Challenge #238

The diva challenge this week is a UMT challenge featuring Beate Winkler’s new tangle Tri-Bee. I really enjoyed playing with this tangle and know that it is going to become one of my go to tangles.  Thanks, Beate!

Now for a little catch up from last week. Here are my two versions of challenge #237, where guest challenger Charlotte Carpentier, had us using sprays and stencils to create our strings. I don’t have to many stencils, but did have one that gives a sort of zebra stripe. I used some Smooch Pearlized Accent spray on a tan tile and then used the left over spray on the stencil to stamp a second white tile. The pearlized effect doesn’t really show in the photo but is quite pretty in person.

Last is a Random Act of Zentangle tile that I left behind in one of my favorite stores. I wasn’t able to snap a photo when I left it. There were to many eyes around and I didn’t what to draw attention to what I was doing.

Thanks to all of you for stopping by and for your lovely comments.
They really make my day!

Happy Hump Day to everyone, and Tangle On!

Weekly challenge #236

What a fun i am the diva challenge this week! I was already at school when I read the post during my lunch, and not a lot of possibilities ready at my hands. I could think of all sorts of things at home, but that wasn’t going to work when I wanted to start right way, so I pulled a piece of scrapbook paper out of the scrap box in my art room and tangled on it. Not sure if I liked the result but it was fun, and something that I haven’t done before.

Later in the day I went to grab my clipboard to take some work home with me, and had a duh moment…. It is a perfect surface to tangle and instead of being boring will be fun. I started working on it but as you can see still have a way to go. I am going to experiment with an old beat up one, and see if I can find a way to shade it too, but for now you will see a work in progress.

Thanks for all your kind wishes and continuing support for my husband and I.
Have a great week and Tangle On!

Weekly Challenge #235

Happy Friday Everyone! This week over at i am the diva the challenge is to use stripes in your tile. It’s been a busy week two, back in school with the middle school kiddos. They are still learning the art room routines and starting their first major projects. Hubby is back in the hospital again, and I finally finished this tile up today after starting it on Monday. Can we say busy! Anyway, here is my tile for this week.

Here are a few other things that I have been working on, a wee bijou tile, and a card for a friend of mine.

Have a Great Week, and Tangle on!

Weekly Challenge #227

Greetings everyone! Imagine my great delight and surprise when I logged on this week to the challenge over at i am the diva! Guest blogger, Lee Darter, picked my tangle Tropicana to be used in her Circus Life challenge this week! I am so honored that I will be able to see how all you great artists out there use it in your tiles.

Here is my tile for Circus Life! It is my life these days, but not quite in the intended meaning!

As many of you know I am still getting used to my “new normal” since my Husband is now in memory care for his dementia.

I truly thank you all for this gift!

Have a great week and Tangle On!

Weekly Challenge #214

It’s an Earth Day challenge this week over at i am the diva, or as Chewie calls it Amanda Day. Since it is finally looking like a bit of spring here in Minnesota with the trees budding out and the little shoots springing up in the garden I decided to go with some Botanical themed tiles ala Sharla Hicks style for my tiles. So here’s to the Earth and the springtime!

Also here are a couple of Zendalas that I worked on this week and finished too.

Thanks for stopping by and visiting and for the comments you leave.
Have a great weekend and Tangle On!

Weekly Challenge #209

Greetings! The i am the diva challenge this week is, to green up our tiles. I had been playing around with using a variation of Rixty this weekend. When I saw the challenge I figured it was the perfect time to try it out. Here is my tile using Rixty, a bit of Betweed, some watercolor, and graphite.

For all of you, “A bit of the Luck of the Irish!”

I for one, can use all that I can get!

Thank you all for stopping by and for your comments.
Your support during this time, with my Hubby in the hospital, has meant the world to me.

Weekly Challenge #208

Greeting everyone. I managed to get my, i am the diva challenge tiles done while visiting Hubby in the hospital, and here and there during my sleepless nights.  It is a Duotangle week using Pokeroot and Cubine. Neither one of them turned out quite like I expected them too, but for what it’s worth, here they are, a regular tile, and a little Bijou Zia. I used watercolor for the Bijou tile.

Here are a few other random tiles that I have worked on during this time too.

Thank you for stopping by and for all your support and comments.

Have a great week and Tangle On!

Weekly Challenge #207

Greeting! Had one of those times when I couldn’t sleep last night, so I tangled instead. I worked on the i am the diva challenge for this week that is a UMT, (use my tangle) Unbatz by Sandy Hunter, CZT. I wanted to get it up quick this afternoon before I go out to the hospital to visit my hubby. I used a little Bunzo, Well, and Mak-Rah-Mee along with it too.

Thanks for stopping by and for your lovely and supportive comments last week.
Have a wonderful weekend and Tangle On!

Weekly Challenge #206

Greeting everyone. The challenge from i am the diva this week was to use some new tools, due to Laura’s unfortunate thumb cut. As luck would have it, I just received an order from Lynell Harlow, of Dreamweaver Stencils and wanted to try one of them out.  Great stencils by the way! Highly recommend them, and you can find out about them here. I used some Smoosh spray for the metallic feather in the middle, and then tangled with a gold gelly roll, and black micron on top. The metallic surface didn’t do well with the black, but it does give a nice ghost image, in person. Used my brown and black pens with touches of gold for the other two feathers, and all on some toned tan Strathmore paper, I had in a sketchbook.

I also want to thank you all for your support in this most trying time in my life. It means more than I can say.  Having a spouse go from mild dementia to very advanced dementia in the course of two months, has been a life altering challenge and change. I am thankful that I have tangling in my life to give me a few moments of Zen.

Have a great week and Tangle On!

Weekly Cahllenge #205

Greetings everyone. It’s been another of those weeks, as my Hubby is back in the hospital. I started a Zendala to help save my sanity, but with little time, and about half way through decided that I needed to combine that with the, i am the diva challenge this week. The challenge is to celebrate the Chinese New Year, and it’s the "Year of the Goat." I used a goat’s head to add into this Zendala, along with some red and gold for good luck. Here is my challenge piece for this week.

Thanks for stopping by, and for your comments. They do make my day!

Weekly Challenge #204

The i am the diva challenge this week is to do whatever tickles our fancy for a “Valentangle”. I had already started some ATC’s, just needed to finish shading and in some cases adding the color. These started out as possibilities for a swap, but alas, I will not have time to finish the others needed to go with them. I have decided that I will make them into some cards instead. I also have a Zendala in the works for my dear hubby, so when I get that done I’ll post that too, but for now here are my Valentangles for the challenge.

Thank you all for your lovely comments.
Know that they keep me going these days, and for stopping by.

Have a great week and Tangle On!

Weekly Challenge #202

The challenge from i am the diva is a UMT, use my tangle, brought to us by Eleanor Holt. Our challenge is to use Athitzi, a tangle made up of straight lines. This really is a tangle that incorporates the pen/pencil technique of hatching. I picked string #140 off of tanglepatterns.com and used Athitzi, Crescent moon, and some Tipple to complete my tile. My thanks to all of you who sent such kind thoughts to me last week. I appreciate it more than I can say. It has been a challenging thing getting used to the new normal.

Thanks for stopping by. Have a great week and Tangle On!

Weekly Challenge #202

Hi everyone. It’s been a while… The end of 2014 and the beginning of this year have been a rough one for me, and I have not had time to participate in the challenges, and just a bit of time here and there, to try to save my sanity with a wee bit of tangling. My dear husband ended up in the hospital right after Christmas. He was diagnosed with dementia this past spring, and had a major hiccup with his disease, following the holiday. After 2 ½ weeks in the hospital, we had to move him into memory care, which is like assisted living, but for those with memory issues. It’s been a whirlwind and my life came to a halt while all this was going on. I made the time this week to try to get back to a bit of normal, and do the diva challenge. It’s a DuoTangle week using Margaret Bremner’s tangles, Chebucto and Copada. Both of these were new to me and it is always fun to try new things. I can see that these are going to be put into rotation in my work! Here is my tile using these two tangles.

Here are a few more that I have done here and there, to try and keep my sanity!

The last one is a Random Act of Zentangle or RAZ that I left for someone to find. Thanks for stopping by and for any comments that you make.

Have a great week and Tangle On!
