Danger Zone Weekly Challenge #142

“Highway to the Danger Zone

Right into the Danger Zone”

That is the i am the diva challenge for this week.

For me, that is trying the new things without practicing them first.

So here were my out of the comfort zone attempts.

-A round tile

-Using black ink and brown ink together. I always love what Maria Thomas and Shelly Beauch do when they use this combination, but I have not until now tried it myself.

-Using white charcoal pencil to shade.

-And last but not least using a brand new Tangle, for the very first time and putting it straight onto the tile without any practice beforehand.

I managed to check off all of them in this attempt. Even though the new tangle isn’t quite “right”, I am still pleased with my first attempt.

Just remember,

“You Don’t Know What You Can Do!

Until You get it up as High as You Can GO!”

Thank you for stopping by and seeing my work, and to those of you who leave me comments. You do make my day!

Random Acts of Zentangle

I have been lurking over at The Bright Owl blog watching all the beautiful zendalas that folks are making, and this week the challenge was to make a Random Act of Zentangle. I just couldn’t resist trying this one out. Even though I am a bit late I thought that I would share the two random acts that I sent out into the world. Here is the Zendala from Erin’s Dare. Here were some of her directions.

There is a new trend afoot called Random Act of Zentangle.  It is in the same vein as Random Acts of Kindness or Paying it Forward but with a Zentangle twist.  Take the tile to a public place and leave it somewhere.  Take a picture of it wherever you are leaving it and then........walk away. Here is my first left at McCoys last evening.

And here is a black tile that I left at the Narrows. I am hoping that they brightened someone’s day.

Have a great weekend everyone.

More on the Weekly Challenge #141

Here is another attempt at this weeks DuoTangle challenge from i am the diva. I worked this one quite large, and had fun playing around with the sizes of the tangles. Sorry about the shadow from the scan. There didn't seem to be any way to correct it.

I also needed to get a card done for one of my good friends who is going through a trying time with her health, so used a variation of “Well” that hopefully will brighten her day. I am planning on using one of the new cards from Zentangle to frame it out for her. I you haven't seen them yet you have to talk to your nearest CZT. They are fantastic.

Thanks, for stopping by, and for the comments you leave! Have a great week!

Challenge #141

Ok, here is the first try. I am not happy, with this tile, but the shading did help. I found these two, not the easiest of tangle partners. Some twosomes work together well, and for me this one didn’t.  It’s not that I don’t like both the tangles themselves, but I found it difficult to use them in a DouTangle. I may have to work a bit more to see if I can get these two to play together nicely. Make sure and stop by i am the diva and check how others solved this challenge. My thanks to all who stop by to check out my work, and leave comments. It's so lovely to have you here.

Weekly Challenge # 140

Wow, what a blast from the past I had with this challenge when I read it this morning. I haven’t done anything like that since, dare I say it, college. I took a trip down memory lane thinking about using the rapidograph pens for projects like this. The kind of pen that you had to keep perfectly upright for them to work, the kind that seemed, on the smaller sizes to clog up all the time, and were a pain to clean!

Now to start the challenge for the week… For those who know me, most know that I do have sort of a, ok I have a pen fetish! If one pen is good, ten is better. I normally carry around a little bag of my favorites with me. I usually have at least three sizes of microns, along with a few colors and other types of pens. Today, no such luck! I only had my .01 micron pen. I searched through the book bag twice, thinking that I had missed them. I still found nothing but the rouge sharpie in the bottom of the bag. Guess I am doing the challenge in a .01. Here is my piece for the i am the diva challenge, to use pointillism for a tile. Be sure to stop on over to the site and see what everyone else does too! I used a tangleation of Well and a bit of modified Mooka for this one.

To all who left me a comment last week, thank you so very much!
I truly enjoy hearing from you and you made my week!

More on the Weekly Challenge #139

I wanted to keep playing around with “8’s Parte Dos” this week, so here is another of the i am the diva challenges. I wanted to see if I could do a regular size tile, and also make it work from small to large, and curve it. I added some poke root and poke leaves too. It reminds me of the berries on the tree between our house and the neighbors.  I am not sure what kind of tree it is, but with the colder weather coming the birds have been working on stripping it bare. Here is my second try.

My many thanks to all of you who left such lovely comments
about my first try at this challenge!

Happy Friday and Have a great weekend!

Weekly Challenge # 139

Hope that everyone is having a Marvelous Monday!

This week’s challenge by i am the diva, is a UMT, or use my tangle challenge. The tangle chosen this week was by Jane Eileen, and is called “8’s Parte Dos”. You can find the step outs to this tangle here.

Glad that I learned this tangle, as I had not seen it before. It sure made me slow down and be in the moment as I learned it, so as not to start the curves the wrong way.  I had fun trying a couple of tangleations, and with the shading and bits of color. I did work this one fairly large, it’s about a 7 ½” square, so I had a bit more room to learn and play.

Have a great week everyone! Thanks for stopping by!
To those that leave me a comment, You Rock!

Weekly Challenge #138

Whee!
Happy Friday Everyone!

I feel like I finally made it! It was a long week of grading for me, with midterms already. I finally had the chance late last night to do the, i am the diva challenge this week.

The thing that caught my eye was the border pattern, on the small Persian rug (Thank you, Grandma!) that lays on the table across from where I sit in the living room. I didn’t get a chance before work to take a photo of it, as it was still pretty dark when I left this morning and the flash didn’t seem to do it justice. It is an interesting rug, as the border is a pattern, but the colors used on it, do not create a pattern.

Here’s my tile for the week, and everyone have a great weekend. Thanks to all of you that take the time to stop by and view my work, and leave such wonderful comments. You make my day, and I appreciate it so very much!
