Valentangle Challenge

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Just wanted to drop in again this week,
and wish all of you fellow Tanglers,
a Great “Valentangle” Day!

I had to try out some Hearty Waybop. (Note to self: next time, don’t use a bijou tile for the first time that you try a new tangle…. Way to small!) See the blog post from Zentangle here to see the step outs for this fun tangle.

Have a great day! Tangle On!

Weekly Challenge #303

Greeting Fellow Tanglers!

It’s Valentangle time over at the diva this week. I have been working on some hearts for various people, and am also using a couple of IAST tiles for cards too.

Here are the tiles for IAST #183 I made a mistake with the pattern, on the first one that I tried, but after completing a second tile, in true Zentangle form of there are no mistakes, went back and finished it up anyway. A tanglation right!?

Weekly Challenge #302

Greetings Fellow Tanglers!

We are having a cold snap here in Minnesota today. Below zero again, and wind chills, but at least the sun is shining! Good news is that it isn’t going to last that long, as it back in the 40’s by this weekend. The challenge at the diva this week is a UMT, Hamadox by Diana Schreur. I decided I wanted to continue my February hearts theme and try to morph it into a heart, and this is as close as I could get it. I started it out with two paradox triangles and went from there, added a bit of Florz in the background and done!

Here is the tile for IAST #182 where we used the tangles Amore and LG, by Adele Bruno, and Opus by Zentangle.

Annette, was kind enough to send me a little surprise mosaic of the tile that I contributed to her Tangle Mosaic Project, Starry Sky. I figured that I would share those here with you too. You can see the results of all the tiles, tangled from around the world, here.

Weekly Challenge #301

Greeting Fellow Tanglers!

The diva challenge this week came from a video that Rick and Maria released called Kitchen Table Tangles. In the first of what will be a series, Rick demonstrates the DuoTangle of Paradox and Diva Dance. Laura picked this as our challenge this week.

Stephanie@EverythingIsArt was nice enough to do a traveling tangle though her blog awhile back, (since I am not on Facebook) and I did a trade with her. Of course one was sitting on my worktable ledge staring me in the face, and I didn’t know what to do with it. The start was Paradox, so it was the perfect storm so to speak, and just what I needed to get it finished. Here is my finish, and Stephanie’s start. (I started rounding one of the paradox before I remembered to take a photo.)

Michele also threw out the option of a traveling tangles trade on her blog, so I was working this past week on getting her starts ready to go. I can’t wait to see how they morph and change with someone else finishing them. I can see why this could get addicting, plus the fun of getting interesting snail mail. Sent them off in a tangled 3Z card.

I also finished a tile for the Tangled Mosaic Project #6. The theme was Starry Sky. You can find more information about this project here.

Lastly here in my IAST #181 from last week. We used Zen bud as a string, and Pozer, and Puf which were both new to me tangles. I also wanted to share a photo of my new quarter enrichment group at school and a mosaic of their first tiles. They all all had a great time with tangling, and are busy on their second tiles this week.

Weekly Challenge #300

Greetings Fellow Tanglers!

Wow! 300 Challenges and going strong over at i am the diva! Congratulations Laura! Thank you for allowing us into your life and sharing it with us. This week’s challenge is to use the Moebius Syndrome foundation logo for our string, in honor of Moebius Syndrome Awareness Day, today Tuesday January 24th. This is something that the diva’s son Artoo, has and if you would like to know more please visit her blog here. I used a liquid watercolor dyed tile, purple micron, color pencil and gray Fabrico marker for my tile and my tile has some “Draw- Wings” for you Artoo!

Weekly Challenge #299

Greetings Fellow Tanglers!

This week at the diva the challenge is Drawings, pronounced “Draw wings”, one of the newer tangles from HQ. We went from one extreme weather wise, to another here in Minnesota. First the way below zero weather, to this week’s rain and high thirties and low forties weather! Quite the swing, but I am not going to complain. I have used Drawings a couple of times, first on a calendar in November that you can see here, and then during the 12 days of 3Z’s that you can view here. I really like using this tangle, but haven’t had the time to really push it and explore what it can do. Something to put on the list for now, as it is the end of the quarter for me and I am massively buried with grading. I did do one more for this challenge, using a Renaissance tile, black ink and also a wash technique learned at Tangle U awhile back, using a black gold Gelly roll pen. A little blue and white charcoal, and you have my latest version of Drawings. You can sort of see the shimmer, sparkle that it has, but as always that doesn’t photograph the best.

Weekly Challenge #298

Greetings and Happy New Year fellow Tanglers!

The diva is back this week with a Use My Tangle, UMT challenge using Orbs-la-Dee, by Anneke van Dam. Is it just me or did some of the rest of you have the Beatles song running through your head? It’s been cold here in Minnesota, so for this week I decided to work in blue… just seems to fit the season of cold, and winds, and snow. I have the dreaded winter cold too, so trying to stay warm and spend a bit of time tangling. Here is my tile for the week, a mono-tangle of Orbs-la-Dee.

Dark and naughty knightsbridge . . .

On the eighth day of 3Zs,
Bijou sketched for me,
Perky pokeleafs peeking . . .

On the ninth day of 3Zs,
Bijou tied for me
Tangled auraknot-ings . . .

On the tenth day of 3Zs,
Bijou sketched for me,
Not so boring drawings . . .

On the eleventh day of 3Zs,
Bijou gave to me,
Wandering icanthis . . .

On the 12th day of 3Zs,

12 Days of 3Zs

Greetings Fellow Tanglers!

I am working on the 12 days of 3zs challenge that Zentangle HQ is doing this holiday season and wanted to share my first 5 days. So here it goes…

On the first day of 3Zs
Bijou gave to me
A tile full of tripoli.

On the second day of 3Zs
Bijou drew for me
A fetching diva dancing . . .

On the third day of 3Zs
Bijou gifted me
some winsome bits of shattuck . . .

On the fourth day of 3Zs
Bijou tangled me
Some marasu encircling . . .

On the fifth day of 3Zs
Bijou wrapped for me
Gold, glowing tipples . . .

I used and idea from SandyKJCZT, that I saw on the mosaics app, where I can be found at #1ArtLadyKateCZT9 to put them together like this…

Weekly challenge #296

It’s a use my tangle week over at i am the diva and we are using Anya Ipsen’s, Moowa.  This one was a new one to me, but struggling with Mooka, I knew that this one wasn’t going to be an easy one. I still have some work to do with it, but here’s my first attempt.

I also am trying my best to keep up with the 12 days of 3zs challenges from Zentangle HQ. I finally picked up the mosaic app, so for those of you on it you can find me at #1ArtLadyKateCXT9. Still working on figuring out how to run it in all but the most basic way, but that too will come. Here is my take on Day 3, some winsome bits of Shattuck…
I am patiently/impatiently waiting for my tiles to arrive but in the meantime have been cutting down the regular tiles to fit.
