Sandy
Hunter is the guest blogger over at i am the diva this week, and she came up
with a very fun challenge. Take a pattern, decide whether is it a grid based or
a free-form one, and then try to use that pattern in the opposite way. I decided
to take one of my own, Widgets, directions and samples here. Widgets
was designed as a free-form fill pattern, and I put it into a grid, border, and as
Sandy called it, a Conga line! I really liked the way that it worked in a grid and would have never thought about putting it in one. This was a very fun thing to do and I see myself
doing more of this in my tangle journal with other patterns, as I have time. I
am stopping at one this week as it’s a busy week getting ready for the
Thanksgiving festivities.
Thanks
for stopping by and for your lovely comments.
Have a
great week and Happy Thanksgiving to all of you!
Tangle

I love your Widgets. You've been really quick off the mark today!
ReplyDeleteWow! Now here is a pattern that I'm going to learn! Love it in a grid whereas I had never paid too much attention to it before. You certainly showcased it at it's best!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful ZIA :)
ReplyDeleteYour tile is so quirky and fun. I've used it a few times as an artsy accent on tiles.
ReplyDeleteNow, that is a fun piece of tangling! I like it both ways and I think this challenge will have a lot of us thinking outside the box, or inside the box, as the case may be, in the future!

ReplyDeleteI love the grid and border version. It really does work well with both. I like the negative space shapes using it that way creates.

Nice work. I do not think I have ever tried Widgets. Will have to try to remember to use it some time.
ReplyDeleteYes, ditto that this lovely tangle looks great how you approached the challenge. Amazing that the little critter seems to morph into whatever you want it to do...it looks like a design that can be slipped into a vacant space OR be front and center as well.
ReplyDeleteLe résultat de ce 'Widget' dans un grille me plait beaucoup.
ReplyDeleteI like very mush this 'Widget in a grid.
