Greeting Fellow Tanglers!
The challenge over at i am the diva this week is Straight to It!
Straight lines for
everything, or at least as straight as I can make them! I started out with a
string that used my initials. I found that I really really had to concentrate
on those straight lines, so it wasn’t a zen for me as it could have been. In
the first tile I used IX, Nexton, and Paradox. I found that there was not as
much contrast as I would have liked so I used some shading to hopefully help
with that.
On my second tile, I again
used my initials for the string and for tangles used a straight line version of
Piza, Palreva, Phroz, Shattuck, Knase and Braze.
Finally, I had had
enough of the straight lines and decided to throw some curves into an artist
trading card.
The Diva and her Niece also had a fine time at Paint Nite. I had to include my photo from the night my friend Stacy and I went to Paint Nite, here in Minnesota. Same subject, different color palette.
They do make my day!
Have a great weekend and
Tangle on!
A lovely card and two beautiful tiles. My favorite is the second one, I like everything on this tile: the tangles, the contrasts, the composition, really very nice.
ReplyDeleteMade me laugh, Lady Kate! You did some lovely straight line tangles but I like how you just had to follow them up with some gorgeous curves too! Like your big flower painting too. Axxx
ReplyDeleteYour tiles are beautiful and very different. I like that. Thanks for sharing the photo with your friend.
ReplyDeleteOh I love both of your tiles and great shading in first one and use of black for contrast in your second tile! Really nice work!! 😀
ReplyDeleteBeautiful painting & wonderful tiles! Love them all! My favorite is your second tile.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful tiles with quite a wonderful variety of tangles and contrast. I can't imagine the concentration. I could barely do two tangles! Good thinking to create your lovely Mooka tile. Very nice painting:)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful tiles and tangles! I love how delicate the first tile is and how bold the second one turned out:)
ReplyDeleteWow! Your tiles are fantastic. I've been seriously amazed at how dynamic all of these straight line tiles have been. Everyone has been yanked out of their comfort zones this week and it's awesome. I love your Blue Mooka;-)
ReplyDeleteThe tiles for the Diva's challenge are gorgeous! So inspirating! Thank's for charing!
ReplyDeleteGreat tiles, especially the second one which has so much energy! Love that you included your painting of the flowers - I'd like to go to one of those sometime.
ReplyDeleteWOW! love your take on this weeks challenge. The second tile looks dynamic because of the contrast and the shading!
ReplyDeleteYour two 'straight tiles' look great! The second one is my favorite: I love your choice of patterns and the contrast they give.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful paintings and such fun tiles!
ReplyDeleteBoth tiles are fantastic, I see what you mean with the first one but I think you have overcome that with your shading. It has a relaxed feel and the paradox gives a sense of flow. The second tile is much more dynamic. I usually like compositions with strong contrast but I think your first one just edges in as the favourite for me. Lovely work!
ReplyDeleteI love your ATC. The blues look beautiful, as does the second tile you did for the Diva challenge.
ReplyDeleteYou commented on my blog post for the week, and said that you were interested in doing a Travelling Tangles swap with me. :) I'd love to swap with you. Do let me know of your mailing address via email, and I'all reply you with the same. You can reach me at stephanie@everythingis-art.com
Super straight tangles, Kate. I just love the second one. That Mooka is delightful too! Nice to see the photo of your paintings as well!
ReplyDeleteWonderful tiles and beautiful paintings! I love them all!
