I am in a serious “Quandary”
this week with the AruaKnot and Mooka Duo-challenge from the Diva. I worked on
this yesterday and got it to this point, and hit the wall. I really like the
stark black and white quality that it has; so it is, one of those do I shade it?
(Part of me wants to go really intense with the shading, as I love to do that.)
Do I add color? (Also like to go there.) Do I add shading and color? I have had it
sitting across the room from me all day pondering which way I should take it. I
finally decided that I was going to throw this one out there, just like it is, and get some feedback from all you good folks. I have had a rough beginning this week and the tangling has saved me. The crazy explosion of both of these
tangles sort of fits the week, and I worked on a much larger piece of paper. Let
me know what you think.
Have a Terrific Tuesday
and Tangle On!
Fantastic! Now that is some nice Mooka! And I love the energy and movement. I don't see how you could go wrong with such a great "base". It's really up to you whether to add color or shading. But if you can't decide - just leave it. Maybe this one wants to stay this way. It really doesn't need a thing.
ReplyDeleteI love it like it is. It's very elegant and delicate.
ReplyDeletePersonally, I think it's superb as it is. Colour? I don't think I would. Shading? Well, yes, I think it would look good shaded. but it looks good now. Tough decision. (Didn't really help much, did I?)
ReplyDeleteThis is really stunning and striking - one of the best I've seen so far this week. The way you've weaved the Mooka in and how rounded and loopy they are. Hard to see how it could be improved with colour or shading... sometimes less is more? Unless you used a background colour so the white stood out a bit more...? Take copies at each stage, whatever you decide on?
ReplyDeleteWow, Kate, that is beautiful. Your Mooka is amazing - organic and alive. Love, LOVE it!
ReplyDeleteI love the weight you gave to some of your Mooka tendrils! beautiful work!
ReplyDeleteas it is, this piece is very art deco. I like it just the way it is...the shine of the mooka tendrils and the striation in the auraknot...good work.
ReplyDeleteI think that this needs nothing more! It's gorgeous Kate!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteYour duo is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteYour use of black and white - brilliant
It looks wonderful as it is. I don't think I would color it. If you feel it needs something, I would just add a slight shading, but really, it's lovely as is.
ReplyDeleteI really think this is absolutely wonderful just as it is...and I'm a passionate, nay obsessive shader...but I like this in its black and whiteness. Sometimes, when you're not sure what else to do, it's because it's done. Axxx
ReplyDeleteBeautiful as it is. Color would not be necessary but I think a bit of shading is always a good thing :) Perhaps a bit of shading just around the Auraknot to define it?
ReplyDeleteWow, I don't know what a Mooka is "yet", but I love this. So want to learn how to draw this. I'm new to tangling and love your style.
ReplyDeleteWow! This is really fabulous. I've struggling with mine all week, and yours is what I've been trying to achieve. The balance between the stark black & white and the delicate tendrils is just awesome. Don't add a thing!!
ReplyDeleteSimply wonderful, full of life, a real bobby dazzler!
ReplyDeleteWow, this is stunning. It just pops off the screen. I do not think I would add color. The shading is really optional not a must on this piece. I like the weighting of the Mooka and the black tendrils. i would suggest making some copies, play with the shading and decide what you like.
ReplyDeleteI agree, don't shade, don't color, it is a beauty just the way it is. The balance between white and black is very strong, and makes the mood of the picture awesome. Your mooka is great, and seems to belong to the Aura-knot star.
ReplyDeleteI like this the second I saw it. Just as it is. Its stark nature adds such impact to this stunning design. This would make a killer T-Shirt design, among many other applications. This is a "Blue Ribbon" tile. Beautiful, Kate.
