Weekly Challenge #227

Greetings everyone! Imagine my great delight and surprise when I logged on this week to the challenge over at i am the diva! Guest blogger, Lee Darter, picked my tangle Tropicana to be used in her Circus Life challenge this week! I am so honored that I will be able to see how all you great artists out there use it in your tiles.

Here is my tile for Circus Life! It is my life these days, but not quite in the intended meaning!

As many of you know I am still getting used to my “new normal” since my Husband is now in memory care for his dementia.

I truly thank you all for this gift!

Have a great week and Tangle On!

Weekly Challenge #214

It’s an Earth Day challenge this week over at i am the diva, or as Chewie calls it Amanda Day. Since it is finally looking like a bit of spring here in Minnesota with the trees budding out and the little shoots springing up in the garden I decided to go with some Botanical themed tiles ala Sharla Hicks style for my tiles. So here’s to the Earth and the springtime!

Also here are a couple of Zendalas that I worked on this week and finished too.

Thanks for stopping by and visiting and for the comments you leave.
Have a great weekend and Tangle On!

I also wanted to send you all a wish, for a Happy Easter. and send you a wee Easter Egg! Hope that you all have a great one, and enjoy whatever you have planned.

Thanks for stopping by and Tangle On!

Weekly Challenge #209

Greetings! The i am the diva challenge this week is, to green up our tiles. I had been playing around with using a variation of Rixty this weekend. When I saw the challenge I figured it was the perfect time to try it out. Here is my tile using Rixty, a bit of Betweed, some watercolor, and graphite.

For all of you, “A bit of the Luck of the Irish!”

I for one, can use all that I can get!

Thank you all for stopping by and for your comments.
Your support during this time, with my Hubby in the hospital, has meant the world to me.

Weekly Challenge #208

Greeting everyone. I managed to get my, i am the diva challenge tiles done while visiting Hubby in the hospital, and here and there during my sleepless nights.  It is a Duotangle week using Pokeroot and Cubine. Neither one of them turned out quite like I expected them too, but for what it’s worth, here they are, a regular tile, and a little Bijou Zia. I used watercolor for the Bijou tile.

Here are a few other random tiles that I have worked on during this time too.

Thank you for stopping by and for all your support and comments.

Have a great week and Tangle On!

Weekly Challenge #207

Greeting! Had one of those times when I couldn’t sleep last night, so I tangled instead. I worked on the i am the diva challenge for this week that is a UMT, (use my tangle) Unbatz by Sandy Hunter, CZT. I wanted to get it up quick this afternoon before I go out to the hospital to visit my hubby. I used a little Bunzo, Well, and Mak-Rah-Mee along with it too.

Thanks for stopping by and for your lovely and supportive comments last week.
Have a wonderful weekend and Tangle On!

Weekly Challenge #206

Greeting everyone. The challenge from i am the diva this week was to use some new tools, due to Laura’s unfortunate thumb cut. As luck would have it, I just received an order from Lynell Harlow, of Dreamweaver Stencils and wanted to try one of them out.  Great stencils by the way! Highly recommend them, and you can find out about them here. I used some Smoosh spray for the metallic feather in the middle, and then tangled with a gold gelly roll, and black micron on top. The metallic surface didn’t do well with the black, but it does give a nice ghost image, in person. Used my brown and black pens with touches of gold for the other two feathers, and all on some toned tan Strathmore paper, I had in a sketchbook.

I also want to thank you all for your support in this most trying time in my life. It means more than I can say.  Having a spouse go from mild dementia to very advanced dementia in the course of two months, has been a life altering challenge and change. I am thankful that I have tangling in my life to give me a few moments of Zen.

Have a great week and Tangle On!

Weekly Cahllenge #205

Greetings everyone. It’s been another of those weeks, as my Hubby is back in the hospital. I started a Zendala to help save my sanity, but with little time, and about half way through decided that I needed to combine that with the, i am the diva challenge this week. The challenge is to celebrate the Chinese New Year, and it’s the "Year of the Goat." I used a goat’s head to add into this Zendala, along with some red and gold for good luck. Here is my challenge piece for this week.

Thanks for stopping by, and for your comments. They do make my day!
Have a great week and Tangle On!

Weekly Challenge #204

The i am the diva challenge this week is to do whatever tickles our fancy for a “Valentangle”. I had already started some ATC’s, just needed to finish shading and in some cases adding the color. These started out as possibilities for a swap, but alas, I will not have time to finish the others needed to go with them. I have decided that I will make them into some cards instead. I also have a Zendala in the works for my dear hubby, so when I get that done I’ll post that too, but for now here are my Valentangles for the challenge.

Thank you all for your lovely comments.
Know that they keep me going these days, and for stopping by.

Have a great week and Tangle On!

Weekly Challenge #202

The challenge from i am the diva is a UMT, use my tangle, brought to us by Eleanor Holt. Our challenge is to use Athitzi, a tangle made up of straight lines. This really is a tangle that incorporates the pen/pencil technique of hatching. I picked string #140 off of tanglepatterns.com and used Athitzi, Crescent moon, and some Tipple to complete my tile. My thanks to all of you who sent such kind thoughts to me last week. I appreciate it more than I can say. It has been a challenging thing getting used to the new normal.

Thanks for stopping by. Have a great week and Tangle On!

Weekly Challenge #202

Hi everyone. It’s been a while… The end of 2014 and the beginning of this year have been a rough one for me, and I have not had time to participate in the challenges, and just a bit of time here and there, to try to save my sanity with a wee bit of tangling. My dear husband ended up in the hospital right after Christmas. He was diagnosed with dementia this past spring, and had a major hiccup with his disease, following the holiday. After 2 ½ weeks in the hospital, we had to move him into memory care, which is like assisted living, but for those with memory issues. It’s been a whirlwind and my life came to a halt while all this was going on. I made the time this week to try to get back to a bit of normal, and do the diva challenge. It’s a DuoTangle week using Margaret Bremner’s tangles, Chebucto and Copada. Both of these were new to me and it is always fun to try new things. I can see that these are going to be put into rotation in my work! Here is my tile using these two tangles.

Here are a few more that I have done here and there, to try and keep my sanity!

The last one is a Random Act of Zentangle or RAZ that I left for someone to find. Thanks for stopping by and for any comments that you make.

Have a great week and Tangle On!

Weekly Challenge #198

Greetings everyone! First, let me thank you for all, for the lovely comments last week. It was another crazy time for me, so it really made my day when I could take a second and check in. Thank you!!!

The diva this week in honor of the 4th year of her challenge went “old school” to the start of the challenges and asked us to “Keep is Simple Silly”, although I remember another word being substituted for the last one….

My first thought was to go back to my beginning, and that first tile that I did when attending training. Here is a Bijou using those first tangles that I officially learned, Crescent Moon, Hollibaugh, Knightsbridge and Printemps, all on a Z string.

Another simple tile, and Wish for you this Season.

May Love
And

 Come to You!

Happy Christmas and a Merry New Year!

Weekly Challenge #197

Welcome back to Laura over at i am the diva.  The challenge this week is to use Arukas in our tiles. But first I have some catching up to do.

I did a second tile for Sandy Hunter’s challenge #195, “Turning Old into New”. I started that week out showing you the different ways to do Widgets, but wanted to also show you a finished tile.

Next up is Emily Classon’s challenge #196, “All Dolled UP”. I had this one started, and worked on it during the week, but last week was a busy one for me as besides teaching full time, I was also getting ready to do an in service day for teachers at the end of the week, using a new program that we are learning this year at school. Those always make me a bit nervous, especially the tech piece, so I really needed to get my ducks in a row! I have a doll that a good friend of mine gifted me a couple of years back. It doesn’t really have a name per say…. It is called a "D, ends in it" doll, to be used for stress relief, and it was the first thing that popped into my head when I read the challenge. It gets used frequently when things are not going so well!  So here is a tangled "D" doll.

Lastly are the two Bijou tiles with a couple of different ways, using Arukas. I only had the wee ones with me, so would like to try this on a larger tile, but for now this will do.

Thanks for visiting and for the kind comments you leave. They make my day.
Have a Great Week, and Tangle ON!

Weekly Challenge #195

Sandy Hunter is the guest blogger over at i am the diva this week, and she came up with a very fun challenge. Take a pattern, decide whether is it a grid based or a free-form one, and then try to use that pattern in the opposite way. I decided to take one of my own, Widgets, directions and samples here. Widgets was designed as a free-form fill pattern, and I put it into a grid, border, and as Sandy called it, a Conga line! I really liked the way that it worked in a grid and would have never thought about putting it in one. This was a very fun thing to do and I see myself doing more of this in my tangle journal with other patterns, as I have time. I am stopping at one this week as it’s a busy week getting ready for the Thanksgiving festivities.

Thanks for stopping by and for your lovely comments.
Have a great week and Happy Thanksgiving to all of you!

Weekly Challenge # 194

Elisa Murphy is the guest blogger; over at i am the diva for the challenge this week. She challenged us to use out non-dominant hand to work on our tiles, or as she called it “Embracing the Yuck!”

Here are some of the thoughts in my head while working…Turn the tile, thinking harder, remember to relax my grip on the pen, working upside down seems to help, turn the tile, think harder…. humm, easier to move my whole arm, Wow that’s pretty wonky, relax that grip again, oh it’s easier to go backwards with the strokes, pretty wonky….

I also launched another random act of Zentangle out into the world. I was in Portland, Oregon for training, for a few days, and here is what I left behind on one of the conference tables.

We had a great view from our conference room.

They also had some cute yarn bombings going on in the city, based around the theme of the ugly sweater… Too fun!

Thanks for stopping by, and for the comments you leave.

Happy Hump Day, and Tangle On!

Weekly Challenge #193

The challenge this week from guest challenger Holly Atwater, on i am the diva, is a TriTangle, using Trio, Huggins and XYP. In other words, THX!

My thanks to all the great folks who continue to spur me on in this tangling journey, and who also keep my spirits up on those down days by leaving me comments. You do not know how much that means to me.

Thanks also to those great men and women who risk their lives in our armed services, and to their families left behind who keep on, keeping on without them, this Veterans Day. Thank you all for your service.

Here are a couple of gratitude tiles…

Have a great week and Tangle On!

Weekly Challenge #192

TGIF! It has been one of those very busy weeks again, so I am running late getting my challenge for i am the diva, done and up this week.  Chris Letourneau is filling in for the diva, and she challenged us to use a great tangle called Seton. I had fun playing with a few new Gelly Roll pens and some color pencils on a black tile. I can see that Seton is going to be one of those go to tangles.

Thanks for stopping by and for your lovely comments!
Everyone have a terrific weekend and Tangle On!

Weekly Challenge #191

The challenge this week from, i am the diva, is a monotangle using Betweed.

Betweed is one of my favorite tangles to use, and over the years I have used it in many a tangle. I wanted to try something a little different with one of the Renaissance tiles, but what was in my head and what came out was not quite the same thing. That’s tangling for you! Here it is anyway, as with the end of the quarter this Thursday, I am up to my eyeballs in grading! If I have some extra time I may give it another go.

Also needed to get a Make Me Happy Zentangle finished for someone, and she wanted a tangled football ATC. So....

Are you ready for some Monday Night Football?!?

Thanks for stopping by and for any comments you choose to leave.
I always enjoy hearing from you!

Have a great week and Tangle on!

Weekly Challenge #190

The challenge this week from i am the diva is
“Challenge Pink” for Breast Cancer.
Laura asked us to use pink in memory of her grandmother Ardath. This challenge is near and dear to my heart as our family has been hit very heavily with this disease.

I have lost my mother Elaine, my two aunts, Debbie and Jennifer, and my grandmother Beatrice to this disease. So Kjome ladies this one is for you!

For me it’s always a knock on wood, and so far so good, although I do have a couple of titanium markers.

It is my Hope that someday this disease can be cured for everyone.

Thanks for stopping by, and as always I enjoy your comments!
Have a great weekend and Tangle On!

Weekly Challenge #189

Greetings to everyone today! Laura and family were celebrating Thanksgiving in Canada this week, so we waited a day for the, i am the diva challenge to come out. It looks like they had a fabulous time! Our challenge this week was a UMT,  “Yuma” by Tina-AKUA, CZT. You can find the step outs for her tangle here. I decided to actually make it a mono-tangle for this first go around, and add a bit of fall color too. I like the overall way that it turned out but was unhappy with the Black ink smearing a bit when I went in with my colorless blender to blend the color pencil that I had added. I have not had that happen before. No time at the moment to re-do, as it’s back into Parent/Teacher conferences for me this evening. Maybe later in the week I can try another.

Here is another of the Bijou tiles using Hypnotic. I think it’s going to go into a necklace for later this month!

My thanks to you for stopping by, and also to those who leave such lovely comments!
You make my day!
Have a great week and Tangle On!
