Weekly Challenge #379 and More

Greetings Fellow Tanglers!

It’s Happy “Holidaze” over at the diva this week. Here is my contribution to the challenge.

I am planning on hanging this wee garland on a mirror that is right inside my door as a little reminder of the season. I also decided to make some more to use as the gift tags for my family, and a few special friends. The letters have been fun to work on.

My spinner for the 12 Days of Zentangle continues to fill. This has been a super fun project. I have enjoyed seeing the video each day and seeing the different ways that the tangles have been drawn. It has also forced me to use some tangles that I seldom have used and that has been a nice thing too.

Here’s wishing you all,
Happy Christmas and Merry New Year!

Weekly Challenge #378 and More

Greetings Fellow Tanglers!

The diva challenge this week is a UMT 123 O’Leary by Antonine. I enjoyed using this tangle and decided to make it do a bit of double duty. I needed something this year for package to and from tags and this is going to be it, once I photograph it and the print some that is. Then I am going add to it and turn it into a card for a friend. (Ok, Triple duty, challenge, tag, and card, not bad!)

I am also taking part in the 12 Days of Zentangle and here is the start of my Spinner before tangling.

By the time Day 3 hit it looks like this. I figured if some color was good, more was better and I also added some gold to accent some of the thin bands that it has on it. I am really enjoying working on this. It’s about the right amount of work to get done and have fun doing it, without feeling overwhelmed during this busy season.

Here is another tile that I finished for IAST #271. I really enjoyed using Jody's tangle XLNT. I only had my little pack of tools that we received at zenAgain with me that day and I enjoyed the simplicity of both the tangle and the elegance of limits as I had only a few tools to work with removing all the choice. It was relaxing to have the tools chosen for me, not making the decision, but having only 2 colors, the pen, pencil and white charcoal pencil to work with.

Lastly one of the tiles, zenAgain2018tile12 that came home with me unfinished that I finally got done.

Weekly Challenge #377

Greetings Fellow Tanglers!
The Diva’s challenge this week is a Duotangle using Fengle and Pokeroot. I had some fun with a Renaissance tile and some of the tools I received at zenAgain. I had fun adding some color and highlights using Generals pastel pencils.

Weekly Challenge #376

Greetings Fellow Tanglers!

I had a wonderful time at ZenAgain last week in Providence. This week, of course, I am playing catch up with everything at school. I did get the challenge from the diva done using some bijou tiles, and using some tangles that I haven’t used for some time. Here are my tiles using Twing, Meer, Avreal, and Knase. I will fill you in on the wonders of ZenAgain once I have a little extra time to get caught up.

I also took a bit of time to do the IAST #269 using Soluna. I had lots of fun playing with variations. This was a take off on one of the things that we did at ZenAgain using one tangle and starting large in one corner and then small from the other. Here is that tile along with the little bijou that I did at ZenAgain.

Weekly Challenge #374

Greetings Fellow Tanglers!

It’s a crazy week for me this week. It is the end of the quarter already at school, and I am trying to get all the kiddos to turn in their work, get grades done, and get ready for zenAgain. (Can’t Wait!) The diva challenge this week is Splotch-tastic fun. I used some liquid watercolor and dripped a couple drops on the tile and flipped them together. I am only going to have time to do one side. I will finish the other some time later. So, short and sweet.

Weekly Challenge #373

Greetings Fellow Tanglers!

October seems to be flying by, and like everyone I have been busy. I have been taking some time here and there to tangle, just haven’t had the time to get the post together and get them out there. I groaned when I saw this week’s diva challenge as I really dislike working with my non-dominant hand. For this one I only had a Pigma graphic size 1 in my bag, so used that to work on a tile using Zingo. I did have to really slow down and even with that everything is a little wonky, so I just went with it.

This is my tile for challenge #372 to use Dewd. I used one of my watercolor backgrounds and didn’t really like the way that the middle came out, so in true Zentangle fashion you can always add a bit of Bronx Cheer and “fix” anything!

Missed out doing challenge #371 as I was out of town for a long weekend to get everything buttoned down for the winter at the lake, and didn’t do any tangling. I did however have a chance to stop at a great winery down in Pepin, Wisconsin on our last “lake loop” tour for the year.

As for challenge #370 using Mezzanine by Heidi Sue, I had a fun time with this one and used it to make more organic looking tiles.

Weekly Challenge #369

Greetings Fellow Tanglers!
I have had a busy few weeks and although I have done the challenges, I just haven’t gotten them posted. I enjoyed just "orbing" around with the diva challenge this week. I used a watercolor tile and a bit of white charcoal for the highlights.

Last week was Homecoming week, so there are lots of fun goings on. Managed to carve out a little time to do the diva challenge using straight lines. I am not a big fan of lots of straight lines. (Wonky line work!) I used a random paradox so that I ended up with the look of curves even though it is done with all straight lines.

This one is a trial of Helen Williams string grid. I had fun with that after all the straight lines!

Here is a mosaic of the first tiles in my quarter 1 enrichment class this fall! They are really enjoying it so far.

Weekly Challenge #367

Greetings Fellow Tanglers!

I am so Happy that Laura is back after her break. I missed hearing about her wonderful family, but it was so fun to see the amazing pictures from this summer. For me the break was needed also. I had not realized how fast and furious my pace was, until I slowed down. I found that I really was on the rat race! School is back in session and I made it through the first week, and almost the second. It’s amazing but it almost feels like I never left. I do miss being able to sleep in until 7:00 like I was used to this summer! Anyway, here is my piece for the diva challenge this week of using ‘Nzeppel and some Flux. It reminds me of the weeds that grow up though the cracks in driveways and sidewalks and such.

Weekly challenge #362

Greetings Fellow Tanglers!
The challenge over at the diva this week is a UMT challenge using the diva’s own tangle Somnee. It’s been busy again for me and I haven’t had a lot of time for my own work but did manage to get this one done today during my enrichment Zentangle class here at school. The kiddos tangled and so did I. Here is my tile colored with watercolor, tangled with the navy PN Micron, and highlighted with white charcoal.

Weekly Challenge #360

Greetings Fellow Tanglers!

Busy at work with all the state testing going on right now. This is the first week of three, and it has already caused havoc with my schedule. The testing is in the mornings and the afternoons are regular classes, so I have kids all over the place with their current projects… Sigh, this too shall pass, right? We also had a major snow event this past Saturday and when it was all said and done late Sunday, we were digging out of 15 inches of the white stuff. Are we ever going to have spring?  The diva challenge this week is a duo tangle using Shattuck and Tripoli. Here is my tile using the two.

Weekly Challenge #358

Greetings Fellow Tanglers!

The challenge from the diva this week is a UMT, Pickpocket by Tomas Padros. I kept this one pretty simple as it was the first time that I had tried this tangle. I did add a little more line work, not sure how successful it was, but I enjoyed using this tangle.

I did the challenge last week of using Paradox, but didn’t have time to get it up, so here is that tile too. With both I went back to the basics of black and white.

Weekly Challenge #356

Greetings Fellow Tanglers!

Just a couple of more days now, and Spring Break here I come. Still have a bunch of grading to wade through for the end of third quarter, but my mission is to get it done before break, so I can enjoy some me time. I did steal a few minutes to finish the diva challenge, "What’s in a name?" I used my name to make a dingbatz.

Weekly Challenge #355

Greeting Fellow Tanglers!

I just finished my diva challenge tile while my 7th grade enrichment class is in here tangling with me. I enjoyed using Verve this week and just played with it as a monotangle. Added in a few Perfs and done.
I used a watercolor tile, the PN blue black pen, graphite and some white charcoal for highlighting.

Weekly Challenge #354

Greetings Fellow Tanglers,

Somehow February mostly slipped right by me, for the diva challenges. I started all the heart themed ones, but didn’t finish. They are all sitting in the "to finish someday pile.” It was a rough month emotion wise, my late husband’s birthday, my birthday, and Valentine’s day, were all big celebrations around the house, and this year I just was not feeling it… I know that it’s the year of the firsts, but Hopefully March will get me out of the funk.

I did manage this week, to get the diva’s challenge done. We were to use Simone Menzel’s tangle Siri. I paired it with Well, Tropicana, and a bit of Poke Leaf. I like that there are so many possibilities for tangleations with this one.

Weekly Challenge #349

Greeting Fellow Tanglers!

Just a quick one this week, for the diva challenge of using Rumpus. I didn’t have a chance to play along this year on the 12 days of Zentangle, and had been meaning to try out this new tangle, so this was the perfect chance to do so.
I used one of my watercolor tiles and one of the pens from Sakura’s PN microns. It has a blue-black ink that I really like the color of.

Weekly Challenge #347

Greetings Fellow Tanglers!

I hope that everyone had a great Holiday season and a great start to their new year. I have been busy getting back into the swing of things at work after having some time off.  The end of the quarter is next week, so that means that I have been buried in grading again. Did take a little time off last weekend to watch the Minnesota Vikings game and “Miracle in Minneapolis” ending!  Go Vikes! I was also fortunate to meet one of the team just last night. Here is a photo of tight end, Kyle Rudolph, and I at one of our local restaurants on Lake Minnetonka. I was able to wish him good luck for the Philly game this weekend, and tell him to bring it home for the Super bowl. A bonus for me at 6 foot myself, was also getting to feel short! It was a fun evening!

As for the diva challenge, here are the objects I used for my string.

The finished tile, using Hollibaugh, Pepper, Crescent Moon, Diva Dance, Paradox, Marasu, and Flux. With that many tangles, I felt the need to leave plenty of white space as I was afraid that it would become way too busy.
