Weekly Challenge # 194

Elisa Murphy is the guest blogger; over at i am the diva for the challenge this week. She challenged us to use out non-dominant hand to work on our tiles, or as she called it “Embracing the Yuck!”

Here are some of the thoughts in my head while working…Turn the tile, thinking harder, remember to relax my grip on the pen, working upside down seems to help, turn the tile, think harder…. humm, easier to move my whole arm, Wow that’s pretty wonky, relax that grip again, oh it’s easier to go backwards with the strokes, pretty wonky….

I also launched another random act of Zentangle out into the world. I was in Portland, Oregon for training, for a few days, and here is what I left behind on one of the conference tables.

We had a great view from our conference room.

They also had some cute yarn bombings going on in the city, based around the theme of the ugly sweater… Too fun!

Thanks for stopping by, and for the comments you leave.

Happy Hump Day, and Tangle On!

  1. I found the whole arm trick, too. I love Portland, and the yarn bombing made me laugh. Do you ever hang out to see who picks up your RAZ?

  4. You did this so very well, I don't even see that you used your non dom hand.

  5. I had never heard about RAZ, Found it very interesting...
And your "Yuck" is very much "embraceable".

    1. What a lovely area! I wish that I had more time to explore... We were in training most of the time, but what I was able to see... I will be back to visit on my own time! You live in a beautiful part of the country.

  10. It was hard to believe this was a non dom handed tile, it's so skillful. Good mix of patterns too. I'm only a teensy bit envious.

  11. OK...so I'm having a really hard time saying what I think...because I think your non dom piece is fabulous and absolutely cannot believe that you are not ambidextrous. AND I am having a hard time believing that you are involved in just leaving your beautiful tiles hither and yon....Wow...I said it! Truly though, lovely job!

  12. Amazing!!! It turned out so nice and even that I wouldn't even begin to think you had used your non-dominant hand. I think I would have to stay to see someone pick up my RAZ, but if they threw it out, I would probably never do another one! Loved seeing those "ugly" sweaters too.

  13. I would have been totally distracted by that gorgeous view. Fortunately, I embraced my yuck in a jury assembly room with an uncomfortable chair and no windows, so I could only be distracted by the awkwardness of trying to produce anything coherent with my non-dominant hand. Your "yuck" is definitely one of the ones where I wouldn't have had a clue that you did it with the "wrong" hand. It's that good.
